The Main Room
The Main Room (pic left looking towards the rear of the building) is 15 m long x 5 m wide x 5 m high and is on the ground floor of the building above rthe basement bar.
The Main Room stage is 2.4 m deep x 3.6 m wide, raised off the floor 60 cm, with about 4 m overhead. The stage is in the far left corner as you look down the room in the picture. The wall behind the stage will be hung with black drapes.
The picture on the right shows the stage in use with the PA set up for 5-piece French Canadian folk band Les Poules a Colin who played to near sell-out audiences on Monday 6 and Tuesday 7 August 2017. The mixing desk can be seen on the small table at front stage-right with a stool for someone to sit on if you want to bring your own engineer to mix your sound.
There are two dressing rooms on the floor above but there is no lift in the building, only stairs. The venue's public toilets and wash-hand basins (hot/cold water) are adjacent to the Main Room. Please note, AMC @ UCC does not supply towels.
PA System, lighting etc
The Main Room PA system comprises a self-op (ie no engineer with the gear) on-stage mixer which is a Xenyx X2222USB 8-channel (bought new in 2013) and two free-standing FoH speakers, mic stands, mics+cables; there are two foldback monitors. It is possible (as happened in August 2017) that we may install a 12-channel desk) - TBC / work in progress. Although we offer the room with no engineer to mix your sound, there will good and friendly technical assistance on hand to help you set-up the gear and get ready for your show. While there are only 30 minutes to set up between shows we rarely start a show late.
We do not provide AV equipment but could hire it for you to your spec.. If projection is required there is a screen hanging in front of the window / back of the stage (and in front of the black drapes we will install). We need to know well in advance whether you intend using projection so we can take tickets off sale to make room for the projector - unless you can use on-stage back-projection.
NB: if you want to film/video your show we must know as soon as possible before the show date
in case seats have to be removed for camera(s) and therefore taken off sale.
PAT tested and certificated.
